RACHEL MCADAMS GOSLING?
The big talk of the festival? Would Rachel McAdams bring Ryan Gosling to her premiere, The Lucky Ones? No such luck for us gossip queens, but McAdams was in high spirits — suggesting love had reared is beautiful head again in her life. Sources close to the star tell The Cadillac Insider McAdams, who has an impressive fight scene in her new war-themed film, and her Notebook co-star are indeed back together, “and they’re happier than ever. They are in this for the long haul.” We caught up with McAdams at Blowfish and bonded over sushi and H2O later that night. What did we overhear? McAdams is house hunting with Gosling in LA — so it’s definitely on, folk!
THE TROUBLE WITH MAN
Festival veteran Ethan Hawke, who is in town promoting What Doesn’t Kill You, tells The Cadillac Insider he’s much stronger thanks to his new marriage and child. “When you try to wrestle with your professional ambitions, while you try to raise a family, well, it’s just hard, man, you know?” Oh, we know, buddy.
TALES FROM THE THEATRE
Now this is just funny and oh-so wrong: Notable film critic Roger Ebert was “attacked” by New York Post film critic Lou Lumenick during a screening for one of the biggest films of the festival, Slumdog Millionaire this past weekend. Ebert is recovering from thyroid and salivary gland cancer, and cannot speak. When he tapped Lumenick to alert him that he was blocking his view, the film critic yelled, “Don’t touch me,” before standing up and “thwacked” Ebert with a festival binder! Wowza; it’s just a film, people!
ZEGER’s TAKEN, WOMEN!
Fifty Dead Men Walking star Kevin Zegers caught up with The Cadillac Insider on the red carpet of his film premiere. “I’m in love,” the hottie stated boldly. “And I couldn’t be happier. Life is good.” AS for premiering his film in his home country, Zegers tells us, “I don’t think my Hollywood peers understand what an honour it is to be here in Toronto — especially at Roy Thomson Hall. I’m never nervous — but I am tonight.”
MRS. RONSON?
Ellen and Portia who? Don’t be too surprised if you see some bling bling on Lindsay Lohan’s hand! The Freaky Friday star and her DJ-girlfriend Samantha Ronson, who is spinning at Lobby this evening, is said to have proposed to the embattled film diva this past week. “They’re engaged,” confirms a source close to the star. Congrats!
